Should I get a companion for my dog?

Well he's a hyper active 8 year old Miniature Schnauzer and when my Mom and I are gone he's got no one to play with him I'm thinking about getting another dog of the same breed the gender will be a boy now the one I have now isn't fixed and I'm not gonna fix the new boy puppy either when I get him should I get him a play mate he's all alone when were gone and cries when we leave
