I thought he liked me...did he just lead me on?

For the past 4 weeks I've been waitressing and met another new waiter who was extremely sweet and nice. In the beginning, he would always come over and start making conversation and flirt a little. He told me he had a gf so I backed off and stopped flirting back. He continued flirting for a few weeks, then he told me he broke up with his gf. I was so excited because we have alot in common and I thought we could atleast go out a few times. Anyway, the restaurant we work at is really slow, so he decided to dip out and wait at another place. He told me this and made it seem as though our relationship would continue. He asked if I had a bf and I said no, and he said "well we can fix that." So his last night I just expected he would get my number or something but he never did, he just left! A few mins later he calls the restaurant asking for me, and he told me that he was sorry he ran off so fast, but that he would come in to get his last paycheck the night that I'm working. It's been a week and he hasn't even showed up for his check! Needless to say I'm pissed! Do you think he just found somebody else, or only flirted with me because I was there?
