I've never gone out fishing with my mates and not talked about our gfs. We also go into great detail. Sometimes it's funny stories just to gross the other guys out and sometimes it's a serious recounting of something sexy. It all depends. It doesn't mean anything other than that he likes his buddies and isn't afraid to tell them anything.
